How I work
Your local point of contact, from the first decisions through construction.
I represent clients who want to build a home in Costa Rica. I bring together the right people, coordinate the practical details, and help maintain a clear connection between the client’s intentions and the work taking place on the ground.
My role
One person keeping sight of the whole project.
A home involves architects, engineers, builders, workers, suppliers, permits, budgets, materials, and hundreds of decisions. These parts need to work together, but they do not always communicate naturally with one another.
I serve as the client’s local representative throughout that process. I coordinate the different people involved, follow the practical work, keep the client informed, and help resolve questions before they become larger problems.
I do not replace the architect, engineer, or specialized builders. My role is to connect their work, represent the client’s priorities, and maintain continuity from one stage to the next.
The process
Support can begin before there is even a design.
Every client arrives at a different point. Some already own land and have architectural plans. Others have an idea of the home they want but need help finding the right place and understanding how to begin.
Land and early decisions
When needed, I can assist during the search for land and help coordinate the local professionals required before a purchase. We consider the location, access, services, building possibilities, and the practical implications for the future project.
The brief and working budget
We define the kind of home you want, how you plan to live in it, which qualities matter most, and the approximate level of investment. This becomes a practical starting point for conversations with the architect and the rest of the team.
Assembling the team
I help bring together the architect, engineers, specialists, workers, and suppliers the project requires. I introduce the client to the appropriate professionals and help establish clear communication between everyone involved.
Design coordination
As the design develops, I work with the client and architect to keep the project connected to its priorities, budget, materials, and local building realities. Decisions are discussed before construction makes them difficult or expensive to change.
Construction management
During construction, I coordinate labor, materials, suppliers, schedules, payments, and day-to-day questions. I follow progress on the ground, document expenses, and give the client a consistent point of contact throughout the build.
Materials and finishes
I help source materials and guide decisions about finishes, fixtures, colors, and details. The goal is not simply to complete the building, but to preserve the character and feeling the client wanted from the beginning.
Working together
Practical management, with attention to how the home will feel.
My work is grounded in communication, organization, and a close understanding of how things get done in Costa Rica. It is also informed by an artist’s sensitivity to proportion, materials, atmosphere, and the relationship between the parts of a home.
Clients remain involved in the decisions that shape the project, while I take responsibility for coordinating the local process and keeping the many practical details moving forward.
A local presence
I can follow the project in Costa Rica when the client is elsewhere, communicate directly with the people involved, and address issues where they are happening.
Clear accounting
Construction expenses are documented through invoices, receipts, and regular reporting, so the client can understand where the project stands and how funds are being used.
Continuity
From the first conversations to the final finishes, I keep the client’s priorities visible as the project becomes more detailed and more people become involved.
The scope of my involvement is adapted to each project. I can become involved during the search for land, during design, or when plans are already developed and construction is ready to begin.
